Judge Loves Fallout

Paul Thomas is no stranger to the Ngaio Marsh Award. He won it in 2013 for critically-acclaimed Death on Demand, and now one of the judges of the 2015 award has come out with praise for the newest installment of his Tito Ihaka series, Fallout. Yrsa Sigurdardottir, herself an award-winning crime writer, had this to say of Thomas’ newest work:

“What really stands out in this book is the protagonist, a character with a full house of faulty traits that stand to endear him to the reader, without any feeling of copy/paste of the archetypical antihero so often encountered in crime fiction. Ihaka barrels through his challenges like a juggernaut, pulling the reader happily along.  Additionally the cold case storyline and the intertwining side story make for an intriguing read. The prose is succinct and powerful and fits the action playing out on the pages extremely well. The story is dark in a good way, a very good way.”

Fallout is available in good bookstores everywhere.
